Talmadge Franklin "Frank" Nelson

-Tybee Island-Talmadge Franklin "Frank" Nelson of Tybee Island, GA died Saturday, August 23, 2008 under the care of Hospice Savannah Inc.

Frank was born May 18, 1918 in Greenwood, SC to the late Ollie Emory and Charles T. Nelson. He lived in Savannah and Tybee Island for the past sixty-five years. He retired from the Central of Georgia Railroad on June 1, 1978 after thirty-five years of service. Frank was a member and deacon Emeritus of Bull Street Baptist Church. He was a member and founder of The Couples Class and the His Her Sunday School Class at Bull Street Baptist Church. Frank was a member of the Transportation Communications International Union. He was an Emeritus member of Solomon's Lodge No. 1 F.&A.M., a member of the Alee Shrine where he was named Shriner of the Year in 1978 and 1983. He was active in the Alee Temple Chanters Unit of which he was a Past President and he was also a member and Past President of the Southeastern Chanters Association. Frank was a founding member and Past President of the Tybee Lite Shrine Club where he was active for over fifteen years. In addition to being a founding member of the Tybee Lite Shrine Club, he was also the founder of The Tuesday Night Tybee Lite Supper Club. Frank was also a life member of the Tybee Museum Association and the Men's Prayer Breakfast on Tybee Island. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by three sisters, Beatrice Byran, Millie Golding and Sarah Sappington and one brother, Roy C. Nelson.

He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Margaret Taylor Nelson of Tybee Island; daughter and son-in-law, Glenda Nelson Rossiter and Dr. Frank P. Rossiter, Jr. of Savannah; three grandchildren and their spouses, Trey Rossiter and wife, Sallyann, Ellen Rossiter Houpt and husband, Matt, John Rossiter and wife, Stacy; and great grandchildren, Caroline and Andrew Rossiter and Katie, Maggie and Ben Houpt.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.

Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Mausoleum.
